Helping more people discover, grow and enjoy native food.

Native Australian ingredients have sustained Aboriginal peoples for more than 65,000 years. At Meez On Plus, we love sharing what we’ve learned — and continue to discover — about native food.

We’re a non-Indigenous-owned business, and we believe in being transparent about who we are and respectful of where knowledge comes from. Listening and learning are an ongoing part of what we do, including through our relationships with First Nations people such as Aunty Daph and Micky Barlow, who often collaborate with us.

Meet Billie: from the Mallee to marine life and on to native food

Growing up on a farm in Birchip (VIC), Billie Cornthwaite learned to drive at six and boil an egg not long after. Her mum was “just about allergic to the kitchen”, so Billie’s love of cooking remains a mystery.

Her other early love was the environment. Billie studied and worked as a marine biologist before swapping administration for a Certificate III in Cookery and her dream job at Hains & Co, a job she wanted so badly she cried happy tears when she got it.

Then came a talk by the late chef Jock Zonfrillo and a meeting with Kaurna, Latji Latji, Ngarrindjeri and Narungga woman Aunty Daph that grew into an enduring collaboration - both pivotal events.
The pieces were coming together: sustainability, cooking, native ingredients and a love of sharing knowledge. That combination eventually became Meez On Plus.

Since then, Billie has cooked for everyone from the APY Lands to NASA and even Guns N’ Roses.

And after a big day of cooking, she likes to relax by… cooking. Preferably pasta from scratch. Ideally, sharing it with others.
